Known predominately for her vintage-style statement necklaces, pins, and hand-grabber rings, Heidi Daus is one of my favorite Jewelry designers. Her pieces are so unique that they are easily recognizable from across the room. But these works of art need to be seen up close to be fully appreciated. Opening a box of Heidi Daus can literally take your breath away! She has a passionate, (even fanatical) following of “Heidi Girls,” who like me, anticipate each new collection, prepared to be amazed.
Heidi uses high-end construction techniques seldom found in fashion jewelry. Multiple castings create dimension. Bib necklaces have hinged plates that lay perfectly on the décolleté, and everything is artfully paved in Swarovski crystals; vibrantly colored, or dimensionally hued.
Here’s a Handy Handful of Exotic Bracelets to spark up the dullest of outfits!
I enjoy a medley of summery Heidi Daus pieces; the three on the left are from one collection, and the other two pieces are from two other collections. Altogether, they are so versatile! Imagine all the easy ways to mix and match!
Most Heidi Daus designs fall into three categories: Statement, Florals, and Critters.
Much of her statement jewelry is for special occasions, conjuring up images of balls, galas, weddings, or penthouse boardrooms. Adding this jewelry to any simple black outfit from yesteryear will take it over the top. Many women have the gravitas to pull off these big looks on a daily basis. And a large bosom with real estate to show off the most extravagant necklaces is truly an enviable advantage here. But there are always more demure pieces to choose from. My rule of thumb: if a glance at the mirror says that the jewelry is wearing me rather than the other way around, it’s ultimately not for me.
I own several of Heidi’s floral pieces. My favorite is an orchid on a triple strand of purple crystal beads. ( -glimpsed in the cover photo.) Suites include necklace, earrings, and bracelet, and nothing goes with a Heidi piece like another Heidi piece. Her color palettes are ever-evolving, but she reuses classic palettes too, so it’s fun and easy to combine pieces from different collections.
This very versatile Blue Daisy necklace always looks fresh with summer whites.
Whimsical, wonderful birds, bugs, elephants, monkeys and tigers. I own a caterpillar pin that I like to wear on my hat. (See cover photo!) And my panda ring always makes me smile.
Wear Heidi Daus jewelry and prepare to draw attention. It’s an ice beaker and a conversation starter – and just so much fun to wear!
